What's New for 2010?
Improved Service Delivery for Members
Investment in Our Business
Increase staffing levels to deliver the best possible service across a 24 hour economy:-
- Uniformed Business Liaison Officer – direct visible link with Business in order to provide support and links with Neighbourhood Beat Officers.
- Employment of Evening Economy Coordinator to liaise with licensed premises during trading hours and to investigate and implement Crime Reduction campaigns.
- Projects Officer – to introduce one project/campaign per month.
- Publication of “We Are Doing This For Your Safety” brochure to be distributed to the public promoting the work of the BCRP.
- Membership growth across the City, including expansion into Fenton and surrounding area.
Dealing With Young Persons
- Presentations to all year groups in schools outlining effects of crime on business and individuals, aimed at preventing young people from entering a life of crime.
- Production of DVD for use in schools, colleges, youth groups etc. in relation to shoplifting, violence, fake IDs etc.
- One to one discussion with young offenders on effects of crime; participation in Community Resolution Programme on behalf of business.
Investment in Technology
- Purchase of mobile CCTV equipment in each of the towns of operation for use by business to identify hot spots, trends and for intelligence purposes.
- Installation of BCRP intelligence system into Potteries Shopping Centre.
- Installation of BCRP intelligence system into other Police Areas at Stoke on Trent Division.
- Members-only page on newly designed and regularly updated website to facilitate faster and more effective flow of restricted information.
- Distribution of crime prevention equipment to businesses.
- Installation of cameras where necessary to act as deterrent in hot spot areas.
- Distribution of bing bong alarms to prevent sneak in thefts in business premises.
- Improvement of existing radio links.
Training
- Business Crime Partnership activity/requirements incorporated in Police Training Programme at Recruitment level.
- Full programme of Conflict Management Training for members.
- All Neighbourhood Beat Officers to receive training on Business Crime Partnership and links into intelligence system – work in progress from 2009.
Crime Reduction Campaigns
- Repetition of previous successful campaigns and instigation of new.
Accreditation Process/ Effectiveness of Business Crime Partnerships
- To continue to work to achieve a consistent approach to a statutory accreditation process nationally and to mirror that process within Staffordshire.
- To ensure the voice of Business Crime Partnerships is heard at a strategic level.
